The Colosseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, is one of the most iconic symbols of Rome and ancient Roman civilization. Built between 70 and 80 AD under the emperors Vespasian and Titus, this massive amphitheatre could accommodate up to 50,000 spectators, who gathered to watch spectacles such as gladiator fights, animal hunts and reenactments of famous battles.

With its majestic arches and innovative structure, the Colosseum is considered a masterpiece of Roman engineering and architecture. Although it has suffered damage over the centuries from earthquakes and looting, it remains one of the most visited archaeological wonders in the world and a powerful symbol of Rome’s history and culture.
